I sing, and I listen hard
Singing is the oldest habit I have. Music is how the reading gets done and how the writing gets finished — and a good live set beats most conferences.
Twenty-three papers, three practices, one method — and a camera, a passport and a playlist.
Every paper, mapped. Quartiles, authorship, domains, publishers and indexing — the whole output as one dashboard.

EnterA — The person behind the output
I'm Uddalak. I keep four things running in parallel and I've stopped trying to rank them — each one makes the others sharper. Cancer biology and computational drug discovery is the discipline I trained in and still practise daily.
The rest isn't a hobby shelf. I build ventures because a good idea deserves to exist somewhere other than a paper. I shoot as @pixapot because attention is a single muscle and it needs subjects that won't hold still. I sing because it's the oldest habit I have. I travel because the next city I haven't worked in is the one dataset I don't have yet. The framing I learned behind a camera is the framing I use on a figure.
Off the bench
Singing is the oldest habit I have. Music is how the reading gets done and how the writing gets finished — and a good live set beats most conferences.
Travel is the other half of the camera. Every new city is a new dataset, and the best ideas have all arrived somewhere other than a desk.
Faces, light and cities in monochrome. The same attention a molecule gets, aimed at something that won't hold still for a second exposure.
Science is the product, not just the paper. I keep one or two things in build at any time — see Ventures.
R — Research output
The charts below describe the whole body of work: quartile, authorship position, year, research domain, publishing house and indexing status. Hover any mark for its exact value.
Underneath, the full list — each paper carrying its own tags, and filterable by any of those dimensions. Every entry opens at the publisher via its DOI. Quartiles are SJR best-quartile, 2025 release.

Collaborate
Co-authorship, a screening campaign, a dataset that needs a computational eye, a review you want a second author on — send it here and it reaches me directly.
V — What I've started
Ventures across whatever the problem happens to be — software, products, services, media. Some grew out of the lab. Most didn't, and don't need to.
What carries across is the method: define the thing, build the smallest honest version, test it against reality, keep what survives. Each venture appears here as it becomes public.

Pitch me
Any idea, any sector. A company you need a co-founder for, a product that needs building, an investment or partnership, or a change you'd make to something I've already started. No deck required — just say it plainly.

Faces, light and cities — the same attention a molecule gets, aimed at something that moves.
